The Core Structure
The foundation of the pillar is typically constructed from MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) or solid Mango wood. This provides a sturdy, warp-resistant frame that can support the weight of the intricate outer layers. Mango wood is favored for its sustainability and durability, making it an ideal "canvas" for the decorative elements.
The Inlay Material
The striking white patterns are created using ethically sourced camel bone or buffalo bone. Artisans meticulously hand-carve individual fragments of bone into specific shapes—in this case, elegant floral and geometric motifs. These fragments are then delicately pressed into a bed of colored resin. The vibrant saffron-yellow hue is achieved by mixing high-quality pigments into the resin before it sets.
Finishing and Polish
Once the bone pieces are set within the resin, the entire surface is sanded down by hand. This process levels the bone and resin to create a smooth, seamless finish that feels cool and stony to the touch. Finally, the piece is buffed with a natural wax polish or a clear sealant. This not only enhances the luster of the bone but also protects the porous materials from moisture and dust, ensuring the vibrant yellow remains vivid for years to come.

At the apex, a solid brass or stainless steel cup is recessed into the pillar. This metallic insert serves a dual purpose: it provides a sophisticated gold or silver accent that complements the yellow tones, and it acts as a heat shield, protecting the organic bone and resin from the direct heat of the candle flame.
